Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers
Through Musical Explorers, students explore a diverse range of musical genres found in New York City neighborhoods. Teachers are equipped with teacher guides and basic music skills are developed in classrooms as children learn songs from different cultures, reflect on their communities, and develop singing and listening skills with their student guides.
Every year six musical artists share, perform, and represent a different musical genre and cultural tradition. For each genre and artist, a pattern illustration was created to represent what borough they are from. The patterns loosely reflect the various textures of New York City.
